This easy 15-minute honey garlic chicken is bold, comforting, and incredibly satisfying! It's perfect for a quick weeknight supper and tastes even better for lunch the next day.
Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and transfer to a bowl. Coat with salt, pepper, cornstarch, 1 tbsp cooking oil, and set aside.
Finely chop the white parts of the green onions and thinly slice the green tops. Finely mince the garlic cloves, adjusting the quantity to your preference.
In a small bowl, combine all the sauces and mix well. Set aside.
Cook the Chicken
Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken until golden and fully cooked through. Transfer it to a bowl.
Make the Sauce
In the same pan, retain about 1 tbsp of oil. Add the garlic and green onion whites, sauté until lightly golden and fragrant.
Add red pepper flakes and sauté for about 10 seconds to release their flavor.
Pour in the prepared sauce and stir well. Cook until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Add 1 tsp dark soy sauce for a deeper color.
Finish and Serve
Return the cooked chicken to the pan and toss well. Cook just until the chicken is heated through.
Add butter and stir until fully melted, creating a glossy and flavorful sauce.
Garnish with the sliced green onion tops and enjoy!
NOTES
Do not add salt to the chicken if your chicken stock is very salty. You can always add salt at the end.
Use chicken thighs if you plan to meal prep as it won't get rubbery when heated multiple times.
To increase the sauce, add more chicken stock and adjust honey as needed.
If the sauce tastes too sweet, add some extra vinegar and soy sauce.
